Inside the mind of a comedian

Vivek has been invited to speak at various companies, conferences and schools sharing various aspects of his life, from the wacky things that make up the life of comedian to how he is culturally misplaced being an Indian boy that grew up speaking Cantonese.

“Be water” is a mindset Vivek lives by after he heard his idol Bruce Lee say this. That’s why ever since 2020, Vivek has adapted to the new normal and can conduct his talks online, connecting with audiences globally, directly from his home studio.

Vivek is fluent in English and Cantonese

Vivek grew up in a predominantly Chinese community attended a Chinese school with relatively few non-Chinese kids. He had to juggle challenges like trying to fit in, learn the local language, deal with discrimination and also figure out his own identity as a human being.

Over the years, through self-reflection, honest-assessments of his life and learning from people better than him, he developed a sense of self-pride that now allows him to laugh at the darker sides of life and get excited about each new day.

Today, he is invited to many events, company gatherings and schools to encourage everyone to enjoy life and realize that it’s not life that’s funny, it’s how you perceive it that will make you laugh.

TEDx, etc…
…Vivek talks a lot

Vivek is a big fan of TED talks since he loves the bite-sized chunks of knowledge he gains from each one. When he was first invited in 2012 to speak at TEDx* Youth@Hong Kong, he was honored to be one step closer to the world of TED talks and has been invited to speak at many other TEDx events.

Vivek has also spoken at other similar events organized by Yixi, AIESEC, JCI, etc.

*In the spirit of TED’s mission, “ideas worth spreading,” the TEDx program helps communities, organizations and individuals produce TED-style events at the local level. TEDx events are planned and coordinated independently, on a community-by-community basis, under a free license from TED.
